the concept

new taste(s) of home.

homieats is a space for refugees and asylum seekers to re-live and -create new taste(s) of home.

We build on the vibrancy of diverse migrant communities in limbo. We trace similarities in foods as they flow through the ocean, without compromising on unique flavour profiles that characterise each cuisine.

We find ways to curate collective plates from singular palates – it’s about connecting through difference.

We’re not about fusion – we simply be flowing.

what's in a name?

The name ‘homieats’ is inspired by a Sri Lankan-Tamil phrase ‘short eats’, which is basically those little dishes we serve when people come into our homes. It’s our version of finger food or tea-time appetisers, if you will.

So, we’ll be taking you on a journey of connecting foods of the world. We’ll reproduce them short eats-style – aka ‘homieats’ – inspired by other homies we work with who have crossed the ocean.

food sustains – both
